A floor-mounted sculpture about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the 6-million-square-mile gyre of plastic debris that floats in the North Pacific Ocean. The shape is based on the Ekman Transport system, the way in which the water circulates resulting in the collection of garbage in various spots in the ocean. The cement was cast in the plastic packaging consumed from the artist’s family over a one-year period.
