Steel, Fire alarm • 5 ½” x 12” x 12” • 2002
While using an electronic tuner to tune my guitar, several questions emerged: Could I make a Human Tuning Fork (HTF)? What would it sound like? What would this device look like? What would it tune? These questions led to an ongoing series, or how I prefer to describe the work I make— Human Tuning Forks.
HTF #1 is modeled after an actual tuning fork. The dimensions are based on my physical measurements—it is 5’ 4 ½” tall and wide enough for my head to fit in-between the arms. It has a foot pedal that activates an altered fire alarm that sounds the tuning fork.
